High School Social Studies Instructor

JOB TITLE: Classroom TeacherREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalSUPERVISES: Students assigned to classroomWORKS WITH: Classroom aides, administrators, other classroom teachers, classified staff, parents, community membersQUALIFICATIONS: Current South Dakota teaching certificateTERM OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PMJOB SUMMARY: Work with students in a classroom setting on a daily basis teaching student curriculum aligned with South Dakota State curriculum Standards in order to facilitate students' growth.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Knowledge of students and learning.Knowledge of instructional skills and techniquesKnowledge of classroom and instructional area management.Develop and utilize lesson plans which incorporate adopted curriculumWork with support staff to gain appropriate services to meet students' needs.Communicate with parents on progress of students or other needed topics related to academic achievement.Knowledge/observe of District's Board Policies & Procedures.Knowledge/observe of District's negotiated Master Contract.Knowledge/observe of individual building procedures.Pursues professional growth.Performs other duties as assigned.EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be determined in accordance with provision of the evaluation policy and procedures of the board of education,PUBLIC DEMANDS: Presents a pro-active and positive image of the school, students, and staff and fosters the district mission of enabling all students to succeed in an ever-changing world.
