JOB TITLE: Special Education Classroom TeacherREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalSUPERVISES: Students assigned to caseloadWORKS WITHClassroom aides, classroom teachers, administrators, other classroom teachers, classified staff, parents, community membersQUALIFICATIONS: Current South Dakota teaching certificateTERM OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY8:00-4:00JOB SUMMARY: Works with student in a special education classroom setting on a daily basis teaching students curriculum aligned with their Individual Educational Plan in order to facilitate students' growth.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Knowledge of students and learning.Knowledge of instructional skills and techniques.Knowledge of classroom and instructional area management.Develop and utilize lesson plans which incorporate Individual Educational PlanWork with support staff to gain appropriate services to meet students' needs.Communicate with parents on progress of students or other needed topics related to academic achievementKnowledge/observe District's Board Policies and Procedures.Knowledge/observe District's negotiated Master Contract.Knowledge/observe individual building procedures.Knowledge of special education needs of students.Pursues professional growth.Perform other duties as assigned.
