The Role:As the Athletic & Arts Center (AAC) Technical Director, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the AAC, including all technical functions of the stage, house, and box office. You will provide technical direction to internal and external clients regarding lighting, audio design, staging, and other production needs. This role requires managing the facility calendar, coordinating events, and ensuring that all performances and activities operate efficiently and safely. You will work closely with staff, students, and community groups while maintaining the highest standards of facility operations. A flexible schedule is required, including evenings, weekends, and extended workdays based on performance schedules. Competencies for this positionDemonstrates strong knowledge of theatre operations, staging, lighting, and sound systems Has experience overseeing theatre productions and technical direction Ability to manage facility scheduling, event coordination, and logistics Skilled in supervising and mentoring students in technical theatre disciplines Demonstrates the ability to maintain and repair technical equipment and facilities Strong collaboration skills with staff, directors, and community stakeholders Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under time constraints Effective written and verbal communication skills Demonstrates sound judgment related to safety and facility operations Ability to develop and manage budgets, inventory, and purchasing needs Experience coordinating with maintenance staff and external vendors Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to promote facility use and build community partnerships Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned Why You Will Love This Role:As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting both the arts and athletic programming within our district. What We'll Love About YouYou have a Bachelor's Degree with a preference in Theatre Management, Theatre Technology, Staging, Set Design, or Sound Systems/Technology, along with at least three years of successful experience in theatre productions or technical direction. You have experience working with K-12 students and staff and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. You are a self-starter who can work efficiently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of organization and professionalism. You are comfortable operating video production and computer equipment and have the ability to translate design concepts into construction and production plans. You prioritize safety, can operate tools and technical equipment, and are willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
