Estimator
Position Overview:
As an Estimator for Carolina Traffic Devices, you will prepare accurate, competitive estimates for rental and sales of traffic-control equipment, including message boards, barrier gates, portable traffic signals, Smart Work Zone solutions, concrete barriers, and attenuators, solutions – by reviewing contract documents and plans for DOT, municipal, airport, and military work throughout the Southeast. You’ll identify quantities, price materials, labor, freight, and coordinate with bidders pre- and post-bid until contracts are secured.

Responsibilities:
· Estimate materials, labor, and freight needed to perform pay items from engineered drawings or plan sheets. Produce quotes for these products and services and then does outreach out to bidders/contractors. When drawings are not available contact will be made to companies bidding to obtain quantities.
· Promote, sell, and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
· Demonstrate products and services to explain to potential customers and assists them in selecting those best suited to their needs.
· Established, develop, and maintain business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for the organization’s products/services.
· Make telephone calls and give presentations to existing and prospective customers.
· Research sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential.
· Develop clear and effectively written proposals and quotations for current and prospective customers.
· Analyze the territory/market potential and determine the value of existing and prospective customers’ value to the organization.
· Plan and organize personal sales strategy by maximizing the return on time investment for the territory/segment.
· Supply management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potentials for new products.
· Participate in Trade Shows and Conventions.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience. Construction experience is preferred but not required.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
· Able to meet deadlines.
· Trainable and work independently with little supervision.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software programs.
· Ability to learn quickly and to creatively solve new problems.
· Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently, as well as within a cross-functional team environment.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
· May occasionally be exposed to noise, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
