Category: Certified SupportJob Function: Certified Support StaffDepartment: MathematicsSummaryThe Program Specialist for Elementary Mathematics is responsible for assisting the Mathematics Director in planning for and training all Elementary Instructional Coaches, Curriculum Support Teachers, and teachers in the implementation of effective standards-based math instruction in all schools.Essential DutiesAssists schools in implementing effective mathematics instruction using research based instructional strategiesAssists administrators in supporting, training, and coaching teachers and staff in mathDesigns and delivers training to administrators/teachers in providing feedback to students to improve instruction deliveryIdentifies resources and supports teachers with differentiation to meet all students’ needs in mathProvides individual assistance to schools experiencing significant struggles in the areas of conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application of mathematicsWorks in collaboration with other departments and areas to maximize teacher effectiveness as it relates to the math instructionPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administratorRequired EducationBachelor’s Degree in Education or in the area of MathMaster's Degree preferredCertification/LicensureMust hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in the area of Elementary Education or Middle Grades MathematicsExperience QualificationsMinimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience required; Three years supervisory experience preferred; Prior experience with standards-based instruction, teaching of Math and professional staff development required; Experience working within a large, complex organization preferredKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesDetailed knowledge and experience with standards-based instruction and assessment best practicesExperience with curriculum developmentDemonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple disciplines and levelsDemonstrated knowledge in differentiation and meeting the needs of varied adult learnersAbility to plan and implement short and long-range goals and objectivesAbility to work with collaborative teamsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with administrators, staff, and community membersExcellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication skills both orally and in writingWorking ConditionsNormal office environmentWill require travel between schoolsPhysical DemandsRoutine physical activity associated with normal office environmentMust be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionallyPosting ID: 34277It is the policy of the Fulton County School System not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability in any employment practice, educational program, or any other program, activity, or service.
