Lower School Teacher

St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks culturally competent and responsive educators to serve as teachers in our Lower School division. A teaching position within the Lower School could include instructing students at any grade level between Kindergarten and Fourth grade. Teachers collaborate closely with colleagues, communicate effectively with families, and contribute fully to the life of the School community.Essential ResponsibilitiesPrimarily responsible for classroom activities and for the management, organization, and discipline of the classroomDevelop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with divisional standards and philosophyDesign and deliver engaging, interactive learning experiencesIntegrate technology, media, and instructional tools into classroom teachingCollaborate with colleagues to support student learning and effective planningEvaluate and document students’ academic and social growth and maintain assessment recordsEstablish and maintain high standards for student behavior and classroom managementCommunicate regularly and effectively with parents and caregiversAttend grade-level, departmental, and required School meetingsAttend chapel services and incorporate daily devotion into classroom instructionSupport long-range planning, School philosophy, and goals in collaboration with division leadershipAdhere to all School policies, including safety and emergency proceduresQualificationsBachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred3–5 years of classroom teaching experienceCommitment to collaborative planning and teamworkProficiency with instructional technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, internet tools)Interest in coaching, advising, or sponsoring student activities is welcomedIdeal Candidate CharacteristicsCommitment to differentiated instruction that meets diverse student needsPassion for multidisciplinary teaching and creative expressionIntellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for teaching across subject areasHighly collaborative, collegial, and reflectiveWillingness to take initiative and embrace new ideasStrong commitment to contributing to an inclusive learning environmentWork Schedule & Position StatusThe role is a 10-month position that follows the school’s academic calendar. The position is paid over a 12-month period and includes typical daily working hours of Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:45 p.m. during the academic year. The position joins our faculty as a full-time and benefits-eligible employee. The role is salaried and Exempt per FLSA guidelines.Physical RequirementsThis position is primarily performed indoors and may involve standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
