Job Description
Position SummaryThe Engineering Technician position performs testing and/or inspections on construction and building materials such as soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, mortar, grout and CMU prisms, masonry, rebar, structural steel, etc., under the direction of a staff professional. The Technician is responsible for selecting appropriate test frequencies and accurately collecting and analyzing data in a field and/or laboratory environment.Essential DutiesUnderstand plans and specifications for various projects and ensure proper testing in accordance with the specificationsProfessionally communicate with contractors on site regarding test resultsRecord accurate and comprehensive test data and enter in reporting softwarePerform laboratory tests per specificationsWrite detailed and complete reports regarding results and tests performed on siteOther DutiesAdditional or alternate duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change at any time.Safety ResponsibilitiesComplete safety orientation program and monthly safety trainingAbide by safety and personal protective equipment policiesDemonstrate safe work practices, apply information from safety training to your work and avoid unsafe behaviorsDrive defensively, avoid preventable accidents and follow all traffic laws including use of seatbelt and not using phone while drivingReport all unsafe conditions to your supervisorRequired Qualifications & SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent or two years of experience in a related fieldMust have a valid driver's license (Colorado driver's license required within 30-days after starting employment)No DWI/DUI within the past five yearsNo major traffic violations within the past three yearsMust be at least 21 years oldValid related certifications such as ACI, WAQTC, CAPA, CDOT are encouraged but not requiredStrong attention to detailBasic math skillsAbility to learn and use Microsoft Outlook, iPad, and company specific softwareAbility to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environmentAbility to clearly and professionally communicate verbally and in writingExcellent reliability, ability to independently manage daily schedule ensuring punctual arrival to jobsPhysical RequirementsThe physical requirements described here represent those that must be met by an employee to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
