Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Navarro has active programs in place across the nation for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.Position SummaryThe Acceptable Knowledge Expert (AKE) will support the Contact‑Handled (CH) Transuranic (TRU) Waste Program at the Idaho National Laboratory by performing duties associated with Process Knowledge (PK) and Acceptable Knowledge (AK). This role involves collecting, analyzing, validating, and documenting historical and process data to ensure waste qualification and regulatory compliance in support of waste treatment, shipment, and disposal activities.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollect, summarize, and document information regarding generating facilities, processes, physical and chemical characteristics, and regulatory requirements for transuranic wasteExtract and analyze data from multiple production, historical, and document databasesUtilize historical records to prepare technical reports and AK documentationEvaluate waste container information to qualify containers for specific waste streams and treatment pathwaysInterpret WIPP requirements, including Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) and Waste Acceptance Permit (WAP)Apply environmental regulations such as RCRA and TSCA to ensure compliant waste management decisionsInitiate and resolve Nonconformance Reports and Acceptable Knowledge issuesProvide support to operations personnel to ensure compliance with site and WIPP AK requirementsSupport annual WIPP audits and regulatory reviewsInterface with internal IEC organizations (e.g., Document Services, IT) and external DOE organizationsAssist with training and qualification of other Acceptable Knowledge ExpertsSupport department requests in a timely and efficient mannerRequirementsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in information technology, science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical disciplineMinimum of four (4) years of applicable experience supporting acceptable knowledge, process knowledge, waste characterization, or technical documentation effortsDemonstrated experience extracting, analyzing, and managing complex technical data setsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Word for technical documentation and report generationStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data tracking and analysisExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesProven ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting CH TRU waste programsFamiliarity with WIPP regulatory frameworks and DOE waste management programsPrior experience supporting audits or regulatory reviewsSecurity RequirementsMust be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q ClearanceDue to the nature of the government contract requirements and clearance requirements, U.S. citizenship is requiredDue to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.Navarro is an equal-opportunity employer.
