Cybersecurity – Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)
Position OverviewVision IT is seeking a Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support mission-critical defense operations onsite at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The ISSO will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified and unclassified information systems in accordance with DoD cybersecurity policies, RMF requirements, and organizational security standards.This role is ideal for a detail-oriented cybersecurity professional with strong knowledge of DoD security controls, authorization processes, and continuous monitoring practices.(This Position is Contingent Upon Award)Key ResponsibilitiesThe ISSO will support the cybersecurity posture of assigned information systems and act as a primary security liaison for system owners, engineers, and authorizing officials. Responsibilities include:Implementing and maintaining security controls in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF)Supporting system authorization (ATO/Interim ATO) packages and documentation updatesConducting and coordinating continuous monitoring activities, vulnerability scans, and risk assessmentsTracking and remediating security findings from audits, assessments, and vulnerability reportsEnsuring systems comply with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIGs, and applicable federal regulationsCollaborating with ISSMs, ISSOs, engineers, and system administrators to maintain secure system configurationsManaging Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documentation and risk trackingSupporting incident response activities and reporting cybersecurity events in accordance with DoD timelinesMaintaining security documentation, including SSPs, contingency plans, and authorization artifactsRequired QualificationsActive DoD Secret Clearance or higher (must be current and transferable)CompTIA Security+ certification (required and compliant with DoD 8570/8140)Experience working in DoD, military, or federal cybersecurity environmentsStrong understanding of RMF (NIST SP 800-37) and security control frameworks (NIST SP 800-53)Experience with vulnerability management tools and security assessment processesFamiliarity with STIG compliance, SCAP tools, and security hardening practicesAbility to work onsite full-time at Los Angeles Air Force BasePreferred QualificationsExperience supporting Space Force or Air Force cybersecurity environmentsPrior ISSO, ISSM, or Information Assurance role experienceKnowledge of eMASS or similar RMF authorization management systemsAdditional cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CASP+, CySA+)Strong communication skills for coordinating with technical and non-technical stakeholdersWhy Vision IT?At Vision IT, we lead with People First, ensuring our employees and customers thrive.
