Device EngineerLocal candidates only to Chicago, ILOnsite Monday-FridayOverview:The Device Engineer will have a broad understanding of wireless communication principles and theories that apply to the design, operation and testing of wireless devices. The Engineer will participate in certification testing and test case development for a variety of mobile device products. Test case development encompasses understanding requirements, interpreting standards, executing test cases and producing summary documentation. The scope of certification testing includes all aspects of current and future device functionality, e.g. parametric, field, application, data, user interface.Top Qualifications:Log analysis is the biggest. They want someone with a very analytical mindTelecom experience, as they will not have much time to train individuals on the technology used in telecom.Samsung experience. Samsung is the bulk of the devices they will be working with.Testing experience. Prefer someone with a focus on analysis but testing and analysis both play a major part of this position's responsibilities.Process improvement experienceJob duties and responsibilitiesExecute Hardware/Software Testing per wireless standards and company device requirementsComplete Compliance Testing on live networks and in a laboratory environmentConducting tests and analyzing data in a moving test vehicleDemonstrate broad knowledge of CDMA, LTE and VoLTE standards, layer 3 messaging and call flow processesExecute Call Performance testing using Mobile Diagnostic Monitors (e.g. Spirent UDM and Qualcomm QXDM) to verify device compliance and performance.Proactively find opportunities for automating test procedures to drive efficiencyShort and long term analysis of test data to develop integrated product and process improvementsDevelop compilation of various written and verbal reports of testing resultsExecuting device compliance testing including mobile operating systems, applications and wireless protocols (LTE, Session Initiated Protocol, VoIP, TCP/IP, IoT, VoWiFi etc)Initiate test case development for evolving wireless devices and servicesParticipate in multiple projects simultaneouslyResponsible for providing issue status communications within teams, cross functionally, and with vendorsDevice Vendor managementMinimum QualificationsB.S. in Engineering or equivalent work or military experience.
