Pay rate: $14.42 – $19.22 per hour Hours: 175 – 200 hour contractDates: July 6 – August 7, 2026Location: Reston Community Center, Hunters WoodsPosition DescriptionThe Young Actors Theatre (YAT) program is a five-week program, July 6 – August 7, 2026, that trains young actors in the disciplines of voice, dance and acting with a focus of exposing participants to the process of theatrical productions. There will be a maximum of 75 participants that are split into three groups. The 7-11 age group is limited to 50 participants who will be divided into two groups. The 12-15 age group is limited to 25 participants. Each group will perform a final performance on one of the following dates August 5, 6, and 7, 2026.Program and Administrative ResponsibilitiesAt the direction of the Costumes Director, supports YAT plays by helping to pull, build and buy costumes. Typical program hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. but costume work may extend outside this timeframe.Acts as wardrobe/backstage personnel for rehearsals and performancesContributes to an organized and positive rehearsal environmentPrepares for and attends production meetings as assigned. Production meetings take place after 3:00 p.m.Participates in complete production schedule and strike, evenings August 5 – 7.Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high schoolMust be available for the full term of the contractPreferred QualificationsExperience/knowledge in the performing artsKnowledge of costuming, design, and/or backstage roles in theaterAbility to do simple hand and machine sewingExperience working with youthMust be collaborative, dedicated, reliable, patient, and matureLicenses and Certifications RequiredMust be First-Aid and CPR certified at the beginning of the programApplication InstructionsTo apply, please provide your resume reflecting your work with youth and/or in performing arts.
