Job Title: Industrial Controls & Automation Technician (Maintenance) Location: Henrico, VAEmployment Type: Full TimeSchedule: Day Shift, typically 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with flexibility to support other shifts as neededPay Rate: $38 to $42 per hourRole SummaryWe are hiring a skilled Industrial Controls & Automation Technician to support maintenance operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a key role in keeping automated production systems running efficiently by troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving electrical and control systems.This opportunity is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, and equipment maintenance who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.What You’ll DoDiagnose, repair, and maintain automated equipment and control systemsWork with PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, VFDs, sensors, vision systems, and encodersUpdate and troubleshoot PLC/HMI programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)Configure and maintain industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, IO-Link)Program and maintain safety control systems to ensure safe machine operationRead and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawingsAssist with installation, startup, and optimization of automation systemsMonitor equipment performance and recommend efficiency improvementsFollow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and proactively identify safety risksCollaborate with production, engineering, quality, and technical teamsMaintain accurate documentation, including work logs, procedures, and project updatesMinimum QualificationsAssociate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Controls, or related field3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production settingJourneyman-level electrical certification (or equivalent experience)Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC/HMI systemsStrong electrical troubleshooting skills, including 480V systems and motorsFamiliarity with industrial networks and process control systemsSolid problem-solving and analytical abilitiesProficiency with Microsoft Office or similar toolsStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Ability to work independently and within a team environmentKnowledge of workplace safety standards and best practicesPreferred BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related disciplineExperience in regulated or high-volume manufacturing environments (consumer goods, pharma, cosmetics)Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiativesFamiliarity with FDA or ISO-regulated operationsExperience supporting high-speed processing or packaging equipmentCore CompetenciesClear and effective communication across departmentsStrong focus on performance, reliability, and efficiencyAbility to support production goals and timelinesAdaptability and willingness to learn evolving technologiesPay & BenefitsCompetitive hourly rate: $38-$42 based on experience401(k) with company match and immediate vestingPaid time off including holidays, sick leave, and personal daysCompany-paid Short-Term Disability and Life/AD&D coverageWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
