Job Title: Maintenance Controls & Automation Specialist (Industrial Systems)Location: Henrico, VAEmployment Type: Full-TimeSchedule: Day shift (approximately 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM), with flexibility to support alternate shifts as operational needs requirePay Range: Starting at $38.00/hour (higher based on experience)Position OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Controls & Automation Specialist to support maintenance operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring automated systems and production equipment remain reliable, efficient, and properly maintained through troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement efforts.This position is well-suited for someone with strong experience in industrial controls, PLC systems, and electrical maintenance who enjoys solving complex equipment issues and improving system performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair automated production equipment and industrial control systems to minimize downtimeWork hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, sensors, vision systems, and encodersUpdate, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)Configure, maintain, and support industrial communication networks such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and IO-LinkMaintain and support safety control systems to ensure proper and safe machine operationRead and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to support maintenance and repair workAssist with installation, startup, commissioning, and optimization of automated systems and equipmentMonitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reliabilityFollow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and proactively identify potential hazardsCollaborate with production, engineering, quality, and technical teams to resolve issues and support operationsMaintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and technical documentation for equipment and repairsSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on system performance and production uptimMinimum QualificationsAssociate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Controls, or a related field3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentJourneyman-level electrical experience or equivalent hands-on backgroundExperience programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systemsStrong electrical troubleshooting skills, including 480V systems and motorsFamiliarity with industrial communication networks and process control systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesProficiency with Microsoft Office or similar toolsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Working knowledge of safety practices in industrial environmentsPreferred ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related fieldExperience in high-volume or regulated manufacturing environments (pharmaceutical, consumer goods, cosmetics, etc.)Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologiesFamiliarity with FDA- or ISO-regulated production environmentsExperience with high-speed production or packaging equipmentCore Strengths We ValueClear communication across technical and operational teamsStrong focus on reliability, uptime, and performanceAbility to support production targets and deadlinesAdaptability and willingness to learn new technologiesCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay range: $38-$42/hour based on experience401(k) with company match and immediate vestingPaid time off including holidays, sick leave, and personal daysCompany-paid short-term disability and life/AD&D coverageWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
