Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an internationally recognized academic support program that targets traditionally difficult courses. Students come together in regularly scheduled study sessions to compare notes, discuss course materials, develop creative study tools, practice problem solving and prepare for exams. These sessions are facilitated by trained SI Leaders that attend the course with students and prepare study materials for use during SI sessions.Minimum Qualifications - • Demonstrated competence (at least an A-) in CHEM102, Introduction to Chemistry or a comparable course.• Completed the equivalent of two years of college course work.• Strong foundation in chemistry.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Tutoring experience.Preferred Qualifications - • BS/BA in chemistry or related field.• Experience in Supplemental Instruction.• Teaching experience.Months Per Year - 10Hours Worked Per Week - 9Work Schedule - The SI leader must be available to attend lecture and hold SI sessions at the following times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 AM - 1:50 PM CT and Thursdays, 2:00-3:50 PM CT.Supervision ExercisedSupervision Received - Works under the general supervision of the Academic Support CoordinatorWork Environment - Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
