Senior Java Reactive Engineer

Immediate need for a talented Senior Java Reactive Engineer. This is a 05+ months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Phoenix, AZ (Onsite). Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).Key Responsibilities:Location: Must be onsite 3x per week in the client Phoenix, AZ officeDesign, build, develop and support high-performance, event-driven applications using Java, Kafka, Vert.x, and reactive programming including non-blocking Java microservices using reactive architecture principles.Build event-driven solutions leveraging Kafka, asynchronous messaging, and resilient service communication patterns.Handle reactive stream processing, backpressure, error propagation, retries, and graceful degradation across high-volume workflows.Lead technical design, estimation, solutioning, and implementation in collaboration with Product Owners, architects, and stakeholders. Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive performance and reliability improvements.Participate in Agile ceremonies, release support, code reviews, and engineering governance.Promote coding standards, observability, automation, and engineering excellence.Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 8-12+ years of experienceExperience leading and involved in hands on design, build, and support high-performance, event-driven applications using Java, Kafka, Vert.x, and reactive programming.Strong production engineering, distributed systems, and technical leadership experience.Our client is a leading Assurance, tax and transaction Industry and we are currently interviewing to fill this and other similar contract positions.
