QC Lab Technician

Job Title: QC Lab Technician Job DescriptionThe QC Lab Technician performs inspections and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process batches, finished products, storage tanks, drums, and shipping samples in an accurate and timely manner. This role supports the quality control laboratory by following established test methods and standard operating procedures, recording and analyzing data, and generating Certificates of Analysis for finished products. The position offers exposure to modern analytical equipment and methods, providing strong opportunities for professional growth and skills development in a chemical lab environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform required inspections and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, final products, storage tanks, drums, shipping, and other samples accurately and on time.Learn and follow all relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test methods to perform sample analysis safely and consistently.Conduct a variety of wet chemistry and instrumental analyses, including titrations, pH testing, viscosity measurements, and chromatography-based methods as required.Operate laboratory instruments such as GCMS, HPLC, and other analytical equipment used for quality control testing of resins, chemicals, and related products.Record all test data and observations in the laboratory computer system for various sample types in a clear, accurate, and timely manner.Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for finished products based on test results and prepare documentation for product release.Support quality assurance and quality control activities by verifying that products meet established specifications and reporting any non-conformances promptly.Follow laboratory safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of chemicals and samples.Collaborate with a small lab team to prioritize testing, share information, and maintain an organized and efficient lab environment.Participate in training on new machines and analytical methods, and apply newly acquired skills to daily testing activities.Essential Skills3–5 years of experience working in a chemical laboratory environment.Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related chemical science field.Hands-on experience in quality control or quality assurance testing within a laboratory setting.Proficiency with wet chemistry techniques, including titration, pH testing, and related analytical procedures.Experience performing chromatography-based analyses such as GCMS and HPLC.Ability to conduct viscosity measurements and other physical property tests relevant to resins and chemical products.Strong background in analytical chemistry and quality control laboratory practices.Ability to accurately record, analyze, and interpret laboratory data in a computer-based system.Attention to detail and commitment to performing tests in a consistent, precise, and timely manner.Ability to learn and follow SOPs and test methods thoroughly to ensure safe and consistent analysis.Additional Skills & QualificationsPreferred working knowledge of SAP or similar enterprise resource planning or lab-related systems.Experience working with resins, chemicals, and related industrial products in a quality control lab.Familiarity with GCMS, HPLC, and other chromatography techniques beyond basic operation.background in biology or related sciences that supports understanding of analytical and laboratory practices.Ability to work effectively as part of a small, collaborative lab team across day and night shifts.Motivation to learn new machines and analytical techniques and to expand technical skillsets.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple samples and tests simultaneously.Interest in long-term growth within a quality assurance and quality control environment.Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a dedicated laboratory setting, working as part of a small team of approximately six people, with four team members on day shift and two on night shift. Initial training takes place Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., after which the position transitions to a rotating 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts (a cycle of days and nights as outlined: 4 days on, 7 days off, 4 nights on, 3 days off, 3 days on, 1 day off, 3 nights on, 3 days off). The lab uses modern analytical equipment, including GCMS, HPLC, and other instruments for wet chemistry and chromatography, offering significant opportunities to learn and operate new machines independently. The team-focused environment emphasizes continuous learning, skills development, and exposure to a wide range of tests that can enhance future career opportunities.
