Secretary II (Delta High School)Delta/Greely School District is seeking for a full-time, permanent Secretary II to join the team at Delta High School. This position supports the business office with a variety of administrative tasks that help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school district.This position is classified as Grade 3 on the DGESPA Salary Schedule, with a starting wage of $20.50 per hour plus fringe benefits. The position works a minimum of 209 days per year (or 1,568 hours).Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Post secondary training in secretarial skills is preferred.Experience: At least three years experience in office/secretarial work is requiredSkills:Must be highly proficient in the use of current office procedures, supplies and equipmentMust have demonstrated accurate keyboarding skills, filing and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines regularlyProficiency in the use of current office technology (i.e.-word processing, Excel, web-based applications such as financial and student information software, E-mail and Internet)Strong verbal and written skills for clear, effective communicationsAbility to maintain confidentiality of records and oral informationAbility to work effectively with people in a professional manner (i.e.- parents, students, vendors, community members)Ability to work with little or no supervision in the performance of routine work assignmentsAbility to work independently and accurately from draft documents, marginal notes, transcribing equipment or verbal instructionsMust be able to deal with many tasks even while being interrupted (multi-tasking)Knowledge:Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipmentMust demonstrate superior knowledge of appropriate and proper use of the English Language, business English and correlating correspondence proficiencyWorking knowledge of cash flow and ledger balancing and daily accounting procedures is preferredStrong basic math skills (i.e.- money, inventory, course credit calculations)Physical:Be able to sit, stand, and walk without fatigue or discomfortBe able to lift and carry 25 poundsBe able to pull or push 50 poundsPerformance ResponsibilitiesGeneral Responsibilities:The Secretary II acts as the Site Principal's direct assistant in the operation of the School specifically related to managerial responsibilities. The Secretary II is responsible for school office tasks which contribute to the effectiveness of the operation of the school building. The tasks performed by the Secretary II may require formal training and knowledge beyond basic secretarial tasks. The Secretary II, like all office staff, is vital to the culture of the school building in that they are often one of the first persons to meet and interact with the general public upon entrance into the school. The Secretary II must be congenial and professional in this role.Responsibility to the District/School Site imposes the following obligations:Maintaining consistent and regular attendanceBeing reliable and flexibleHaving sufficient sense of organizational procedures to be able to accept discipline while working happily within the established structure and policies of the schoolBeing willing to acquire skills neededDiscussing any specific problems with the supervising staff member or the principal.
