Assistant Equipment Mechanic
DescriptionEssential Job Functions:• Repairs transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, steering systems, starts, generators, universal joints, hydraulic systems, and high-pressure pumps and valves, installs and adjusts brakes. • Performs mower grinding and sharpening. • Undertakes body and fender work, fabrication, welding, troubleshooting and repairs to hydraulic and electrical systems. • Lubricates and services equipment. • Inspects equipment for operating issues and makes routine adjustments where necessary. • Fills equipment with gas and oil, inspect and change tires. • Performs body repair, painting and adjust the engines and cutting mechanisms on a variety of heavy and light mowing equipment. • Maintain a clean, safe repair shop and effective daily equipment program. • Disposes of various oils, chemicals and other residues (antifreeze, oil filters, etc.) properly. • Operates vehicles to transport goods, equipment, or personnel. Drives and parks vehicles safely and responsibly in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies. Other Duties & Responsibilities:• Organize and clean the inventory room. • Sets-up and modify new equipment as necessary. • May perform other assignments and duties, as area needs require. • Communicates with the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Equipment and/or Golf Course Chief Mechanic any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment. RequirementsSkills & Knowledge:• Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and make necessary repairs. • Knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and equipment repair tools. • Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines. • Knowledge of proper methods for servicing automotive equipment and of the sharpening, repair, and adjustment of power mowing equipment. • Ability to understand and interpret directions. Licensure/Certification:• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Company drivers who are Florida residents must obtain a valid Florida license within 30 days of establishing residency to drive on Florida roads.
