The position involves 80% labor and delivery responsibilities and 20% mother and baby/postpartum care. Candidates must have recent postpartum experience. Weekend rotation and coverage will be discussed during the interview. The ideal candidate should demonstrate flexibility as needed by the unit. A maximum of two patients per nurse is expected during shifts. The daily census typically ranges from 3-5 patients. The unit comprises 10 beds and accommodates various patient age groups, including neonates, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This role includes supporting high-risk deliveries and postpartum care for mothers and infants. Candidates will assist with labor, deliver, recover, and transition newborns into care. Responsibilities also encompass monitoring, patient education, and supporting breastfeeding. Knowledge of various medical disorders and complications related to pregnancy and childbirth is essential. Strong skills in the administration of medications, management of IVs, and neonatal resuscitation are required. Successful candidates will work in a collaborative environment with interdisciplinary support teams. Applicants should be prepared for possible floating within the hospital.
