Lisa Mantoni Landscape Design is a Brooklyn-based design and build firm with high-end clients throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. We work as a close-knit team and take pride in our craftsmanship, reliability and respect for our clients’ property. This position is best suited for someone who enjoys physical work, has an excellent work ethic and thrives in a fast-paced environment. ResponsibilitiesAssist with all aspects of garden installation on rooftops, terraces and backyardsMaintain gardens in Manhattan and Brooklyn; duties include pruning, deadheading, planting, fertilizing, weeding, pest and disease monitoring/treatment and leaving all job sites clean and looking their bestMonitor irrigation systems at each maintenance visit: checking for problems and reporting issues to manager Take detailed notes and photos for each job and send reports to manager in timely manner Always punctual, and treat clients, coworkers and properties with respect (remembering we are in someone’s home)Qualifications2+ years of professional experience AND/OR formal education in horticultureReliable, punctual and good work ethic Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks and work efficiently to complete them in a timely mannerAbility to work independently and as part of a crewDetail oriented and a keen eye for aesthetics in planting and maintenance tasksAbility to lift heavy things…..repeatedly…for extended periods of timeExtensive knowledge of plant ID, maintenance requirements and pruning timing/techniques Familiar with pests/disease ID and general knowledge of treatment techniquesBe fun and personable! We like to laugh while we do back-breaking labor Willingness to work in inclement weather if the schedule necessitatesKnowledge of drip irrigation systems is a plus
