Medical Assistant - Oncology/HematologyWe are seeking a compassionate and empathetic Medical Assistant to provide dedicated support to our cancer patients at our fast-paced Oncology Clinic. As an MA, which is home to a collaborative team of seven physicians and five Advanced Practice Providers (APP's). As an MA, you will be an integral part of dedicated provider to deliver respectful, high-quality, patient-centered care throughout every step of the treatment journey.The ideal candidate demonstrates respect, compassion, and integrity in all interactions and thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary oncology environment. Strong critical-thinking and clinical problem-solving skills are essential, as the MA will support patients requiring complex, multimodality cancer care. Additional hours may be available to provide coverage for vacations or staff absences.Schedule & Work EnvironmentPart-time, guaranteed 40 hours per weekMondayFriday schedule; No weekends, Holidays, or NightsTypical hours: 8:30 AM 5:00PMKey ResponsibilitiesRooming patients, obtaining medical histories, and documenting in the electronic medical recordMeasuring and recording vital signsAssisting providers and PAs during procedures (e.g., biopsies), including specimen labeling and instrument handlingObtaining bloodwork and administering medications (injections)Providing patient and family teachingSupporting post-surgical careManaging charts, patient flow, and general clinic support across both departmentsCollaborating closely with a full-time MA experienced in gynecologic oncologyGeneral Summary: Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties may include but are not limited to: the greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room, obtaining medical histories, the measurement and recording of vital signs, preparing patients for an examination/procedure, assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.Education Required: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.Experience Required: Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred. Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred. Ability to problem-solve preferred. Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred. EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.Certifications/Licensures Required: Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.Additional Requirements: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.*Must Successfully complete all components of Ambulatory orientation as defined by Henry Ford Health.
