Full-Time 40h/wk $52k to $72.80k/year Casual AttireCEHMM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers a wide variety of environmental services to clients throughout southern New Mexico. Our Environmental Services Department specializes in natural resource assessment and environmental permitting at the federal and state levels. A successful candidate may have experience with plant & wildlife surveys, environmental assessments (EAs), a working knowledge of the NEPA, and environmental planning.The Natural Resource Specialist position is a permanent full-time position located in Carlsbad, NM, reporting to the Environment Services Project Manager.ResponsibilitiesPrepare NEPA documents (Environmental Assessments, Environmental Site Assessments) and related environmental planning or permitting deliverablesAssist with environmental planning, conflict analysis, and project coordinationPerform technical field surveys (wetland delineations, SWPPP inspections, formal onsite assessments, etc.)Collect, enter, and manage field data; maintain accurate records and mapping outputsDraft technical reports, permit applications, special studies, and presentationsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local natural resource laws and regulationsCollaborate with federal, state, and local agencies, private subcontractors, and clientsOther duties as assignedThe salary range for this position is $25/hr to $35/hr. CEHMM offers a very relaxed work environment with flexible schedules, competitive compensation, benefits including 401K, quality insurance options, relocation reimbursement, education reimbursement, and clothing allowance.RequirementsRequiredBachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Environmental Science, Wildlife Science, Ecology, Biology, Geology, or related fieldMinimum of two years of professional experience in natural resource management, consulting, or environmental permittingAbility to work long hours in the field in variable and challenging conditionsWorking knowledge of ArcGIS ProAbility to effectively and clearly communicate with clients, agencies, and team membersPossession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving recordPreferredMaster's degree (MS) in Environmental Science, Wildlife Science, Ecology, Biology, Geology, or related fieldExperience with NEPA document preparation (EAs, EISs, Environmental Site Assessments)Experience with state and federal environmental permitting processesExperience performing technical environmental surveys (e.g., wetland delineations, SWPPP inspections, cave & karst)Ability to pull a trailer and operate a UTVKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesRequiredKnowledge of natural resource survey methods (wildlife, plant, karst, hydrology, etc.)Ability to collect, analyze, and manage field data accuratelyCompetence in technical writing for environmental reports and planning documentsProficiency with ArcGIS Pro and standard office software (Word, Excel)Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and colleaguesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailPreferredExperience applying state and federal natural resource regulationsExperience with NEPA document preparation and permittingFamiliarity with advanced GIS analysis and mappingAbility to troubleshoot problems in the field and adapt to dynamic conditionsJ-18808-Ljbffr
