Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic experience required - Experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps preferred - Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy required - Transplant experience (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas) required Description: This position involves caring for high acuity ICU patients with a patient ratio of 1:2. The role requires floating to other ICUs and step-down units as needed. The responsibilities include caring for post-operative CABG, valve replacement, repair cases, and patients with aortic dissection, IABP, and PA catheters. General post-operative care for surgical recovery patients in the SICU is essential. The unit treats cardiac surgery patients, transplant patients, and patients requiring general surgery. Nurses must demonstrate skills in monitoring and managing complex medical conditions and treatment protocols. Experience in handling multiple organ dysfunction and high-level critical care is necessary. All applicants should be comfortable reporting for assignments as directed by unit leadership to respond to emergency situations as they arise. There are no block scheduling requests accepted for this role. Unit operates with interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
