GeminiBio is an ISO 13485 certified, FDA registered Class 1 Medical Device Manufacturer, aligned with 21 CFR Part 820.Position SummaryThe EHS Specialist is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving GeminiBio's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs across cGMP manufacturing, laboratories, and warehouse operations. The role supports safe operations in ISO-classified manufacturing areas, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (including Cal/OSHA), drives risk-reduction initiatives, conducts inspections and training, and partners cross-functionally to support safe, efficient production of GeminiBio's media, buffers, and large-volume bioprocess liquids.Key ResponsibilitiesAdministers and continually improves core EHS programs, including Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Hazard Communication (HazCom), Chemical Hygiene, Emergency Response, and Ergonomics.Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, including Cal/OSHA, Title 8 requirements, safety training standards, laboratory chemical exposure rules, and all cGMP-relevant safety requirements.Performs routine inspections of laboratories, production suites, life-safety systems (eyewash, safety showers, fire extinguishers, spill kits, AEDs), and warehouse areas; tracks and verifies corrective actions.Manages accident/incident investigations, root-cause analyses, OSHA recordkeeping, and the timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.Maintains Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library, chemical inventory systems, and compliant labeling in accordance with HazCom standards.Partners closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, and Supply Chain to assess risks in equipment operation, large-scale liquid manufacturing (up to 10,000 L), chemical handling, and material movement.Coordinates hazardous waste accumulation, documentation, vendor pickups, and compliance with environmental regulations (RCRA, universal waste, biomedical waste where applicable).Delivers new-hire and recurring EHS training, including PPE use, spill response, chemical hygiene, IIPP, HazCom, and ergonomic awareness.Supports emergency preparedness planning, drills, and documentation.Provides data and EHS performance metrics to site management and supports continuous improvement initiatives.Provides limited cross-functional support to other departments, including basic office administrative tasks and assisting with purchasing small operational items, as business needs ariseCore CompetenciesCustomer CentricConsistently aware of how work product impacts customer value and experience and works with intensity to optimize customer value and experience. Honoring and keeping commitments.IntensityWorking with speed and focus to deliver the highest quality results – on time.InvolvementEmbracing unique perspectives and treating others with dignity and respect.Biased to improve processes and products to better serve customers and improve workflows.Required Skills and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Life Sciences, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).3+ years of EHS experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, chemical, or laboratory/manufacturing environments.Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, IIPP, HazCom, laboratory safety standards, and safety training requirements.Experience conducting investigations, root-cause analysis, and OSHA recordkeeping.Familiarity with cGMP environments (ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820).Ability to interpret regulations, develop procedures, and implement safety improvements.Excellent communication skills; able to influence teams, lead training, and maintain accurate documentation.Preferred: experience with hazardous waste management, ergonomics programs, and large-volume liquid manufacturing operations.J-18808-Ljbffr
