The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).OverviewThe Husbandry Attendant will provide the daily care of laboratory animals maintained at Rockefeller University using established policies and procedures as prescribed by federal, state laws and regulations. Husbandry attendants report to the Floor Supervisor and are also overseen by a Group Leader.ResponsibilitiesThe Husbandry Attendant's responsibilities included, but are not limited to the following:Performing multiple assignments such as cage changing, general animal care, as well as monitoring and reporting of animal healthMaintaining and reporting on facility equipment, cleaning assigned rooms, performing animal receiving procedures and maintaining consumable supplies (food, water, and bedding) in assigned roomsResponsible for animal room records, and notification of appropriate personnel concerning irregularities in animal health and the environmentOther duties will be assigned as neededQualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required. ALAT certified preferred. The right candidate must be able to push/pull carts on weight-bearing wheels weighing approximately 500 lbs., and lift supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders and tolerate a significant amount of standing, bending, and walking.
