ASD Special Education Elementary Teacher

Hiring 2026-2027 School Year Summary: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential Work is performed under the supervision of the Building Principal and Director of Special Services Provide specialized instruction in a center-based program for students having autism spectrum disorderHave the ability to manage a caseload of students including IEP's and all other relevant paperworkLead meetings and development of IEP's, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention Plans Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead meetings and development of IEP's, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention PlansPlan, prepare, individualize and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learningInstruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipmentUse relevant technology to support and differentiate instructionManage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing expectations and proceduresCreate and coordinate student schedules with related services and general education, as appropriateEncourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategiesMaintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and developmentUpdate all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulationsPrepare required documentation on student progressParticipate in grade level, department, school, district and parent meetingsSupport and prepare schedules for paraprofessionals working within the ASD programPrepare and help students transition from grade to gradeCommunicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needsEstablish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activitiesPrepare classroom and/or learning environment for all learning opportunitiesProvide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activitiesObserve and evaluate student's performance and development using formative and summative assessmentsOther duties as assigned by the Building Principal, Special Education Coordinator or Asst Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services Supervisory Responsibilities: Not applicable Direct Report: Building Principal Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions: Education and/or Experience: Required:BA or BS DegreeMichigan Education Certification;
