EI Special Education ParaprofessionalThe EI Special Education Paraprofessional assists teaching staff with students needing accommodations and helps implement positive behavior.This position is for 35 hours per week and is eligible for benefits.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Under teacher direction, provide instructional and social-emotional/behavior accommodations and interventionsAssist students with health, medical or physical needs (eg transferring, bathrooming, etc)Assist teams in the implementation of positive behavior support plans or emergency intervention plansAssist teams with data collectionRespect individual student strengths and needs and maintain confidentiality at all timesActively support district, school, and classroom norms and philosophyProfessionally engage with parents, staff, and administrators in supporting student successOther duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities: Not applicableDirect Report: Building PrincipalQualification Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:Education and/or Experience:Required:At least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); orAn associate's degree (or higher); orDemonstrate, through passage of an approved formal state academic assessment in the following areas: Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriateAbility to read and understand instructional materials present to studentsAbility to develop effective working relationships with all students, staff and school communityAbility to perform duties with awareness of all district and BOE policiesThree years in general administrative assistant work and/or trainingHighly effective organization skills and takes initiativePreferred:Experience as a School Administrative Assistant and/or working in a school settingAdditional training and/or educationLanguage Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret communication including emails, letters, spreadsheet and forms. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate basic mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; determine percentages and decimals; spatial aptitude to inspect length and weight of objects.Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Other Skills and Abilities:Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
