Electrical Engineer: Robotics Hardware Engineering

At Meta, we're building the future of human connection and the technology that enables it. This means continuously inventing and developing technologies for the next generation of experiences. To continue our efforts in the path to AGI, and as we move closer to a future with intelligent robots and advanced AI models, we're hiring talent across a broad range of disciplines from robotics hardware to system software, machine perception, and artificial intelligence. These crucial projects and initiatives taken on by this team have never been done before, so you have a rare opportunity to help us create new ways people connect around the world. Meta Robotics Studio is seeking an Electrical Engineer. This role is pivotal in tackling the most novel electrical design problems we face, including designing and developing complex robotics that balance ergonomics, performance, reliability, and usability while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. This role is part of a team responsible for initial concept development, analytical modeling, prototype design, construction, and testing.Minimum Qualifications8+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, with a proven track record of contributing to the successful inception, ideation, development, and launch of consumer productsBS degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related fieldExperience in one or more of the following systems in the context of Robotic systems: Lithium Battery Systems, High Power (>100W) DC/DC Power Conversion and Distribution, DC Motor Controllers and Drivers, Embedded systems (MCU/GPU), Electrical System Integration, positional sensing (encoders, etc), cable harness design, functional safety systems, and control theoryExperience with electrical system integration including schematic and layout using industry-standard simulation and design packages such as SPICE, MATLAB, Altium or CadenceExperience with electrical design verification using standard test and measurement equipment (Oscilloscope, LCR, DMM, Electronic Load, etc)Experience working collaboratively with cross functional Engineering, Safety, Manufacturing, and external partnersExperience hands-on in lab assembling and testing systems, including soldering, crimping, and basic mechanical assemblyExperience innovating and solving complex design problemsPreferred QualificationsMS or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field12+ years of experience in research or advanced development incubating new tech and guiding them through to product transferExperience in full Robotics and consumer electronic product designExperience programming in other languages like Python/Java/C#/C++/C, creating initial system bring-up, debugging, and test codeExperience with signal and power integrityExperience with vendor engagement and relationship management, including co-design and customization of existing commercial technologiesExperience defining and coordinating test procedures in a lab and factory environment to facilitate system bring-up and evaluationExperience with electrical and operational safety controls and proceduresDesign for Compliance certification and EMI/EMC theoryResponsibilitiesArchitect and design electrical engineering solutions for the next generation of robotics that include fabrication and assembly of Printed Circuit Boards, Flexible Printed Circuits, and Rigid Flexible Printed CircuitsDevelop schematics, guide board layout, assemble, test, debug, and integrate multi-component electrical systems using industry-standard simulation and design packages such as SPICE, MATLAB, Altium or CadenceEstablish and conduct collaborations with multidisciplinary partners, both internal and externalEmbrace constant learning, diving into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and supporting the ambiguity of robotics problem solvingAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. People who choose to build their careers by building with us at Meta help shape a future that will take us beyond what digital connection makes possible today-beyond the constraints of screens, the limits of distance, and even the rules of physics.Equal Employment OpportunityMeta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
