Job Description And Position RequirementsThe Sustainability team in the Office of Physical Plant is seeking applicants for part-time job of Sustainability Program Coordinator. The team is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and organized person to support our sustainability programs, especially the Sustainable Lab and Tailgate Ambassador Programs. The Sustainable Lab Program is motivated by the recognition that research itself contributes to sustainability challenges by being naturally energy and resource intensive. Penn State is taking on this challenge by partnering with the nonprofit My Green Lab (MGL), and utilizing their certification program that assesses 14 target areas for behavioral change. The Tailgate Ambassador Program, sponsored by PepsiCo, promotes sustainability and improves the fan experience in tailgating lots on football game days. This position will ensure the successful delivery of these programs through coordination of details, training of student workers and volunteers, and communication with team members. They will also support the broader sustainability goals of the Sustainability team.The Part-Time Sustainability Programs Coordinator is a new position. The position will support the Managers of the Sustainable Lab and Tailgate Ambassador programs by:Shared / General ResponsibilitiesCoordinate incentive programs and events across sustainability initiativesEnsure social media materials are created and shared for both programsSupport the creation of marketing and communications materialsTailgate Ambassador ResponsibilitiesSupport a team of staff and student workers to plan, execute, and assess recycling efforts at athletics eventsPlan, organize, and lead game day operations (schedules, refreshments, materials, etc.)Coordinate communication, training, and time tracking for Tailgate AmbassadorsDeliver and facilitate friendly, helpful, and positive fan engagementSustainable Labs ResponsibilitiesSupport the development and coordination of educational programs and events for Sustainable Lab participantsAssist with outreach and recruitment of new labs, with a focus on spring onboardingFacilitate supplemental initiatives such as the International Freezer Challenge and related campaignsProvide ongoing support to participating labs, including troubleshooting and participant communicationTrack participation, progress, and certification milestones, and support program reportingThe day-to-day work will include:Providing routine program logistics/maintain requirements or activities to ensure quality of programs Support preparation of program agreements, grant writing initiatives, budgets, and related information Coordinate and distribute program evaluations, communicate with clients on participant satisfaction metrics, analyze customer feedback for trends and discrepancies Provide marketing research on service/program area, competitor pricing, industry news, and networking opportunities Compile information and prepare reports Coordinate the recruitment of presenters and guest speakersMonitor enrollments and report updates to program managersAssist with developing training materialsMay create, update, and maintain website May assist in budget preparation; compile dataSchedule:Twenty hours per week for at least a full academic year is expectedIn-person hours required for all home Penn State football Saturdays including spring practice plus several other home sporting eventsCompetencies:Open to all majors and degree programsAssociate's degree or higher preferredIdeal candidates have experience coordinating groups of volunteersCompensation:The starting rate for this job is $25/hr.BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESEmployment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICSPursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
