This position is funded for 12 months; continuation past 12 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.POSITION SPECIFICSDr. Sarah Myruski of The Emotion Development Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University seeks a full-time Human Research Technologist to serve as a research assistant.The Human Research Technologist will have the opportunity to work on NIMH- and Penn State-funded studies investigating anxiety and digital media use in adolescents, with a focus on emotion regulation and neurophysiological mechanisms.This work will take advantage of the University’s broad resources, including the Child Study Center.Responsibilities:One primary responsibility will be data collection for an ongoing study. This will include (but not limited to):Communicate with research participants to schedule data collection sessionsConduct participant intake meetings and clinical interviewsConduct EEG/eye tracking visits with participantsAssist with survey data collection including ecological momentary assessments (EMA)Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:Organize lab materialsAttend lab and project specific meetingsMaintain equipment checks; troubleshoot for technical problemsOversee and assist undergraduate student researchers with completion of projectsCollect, process, and analyze psychophysiological dataAid in human subject protocols and consent formsImportant Note: Due to the availability of research participants, the Human Research Technologist’s working hours will vary and will include weekend and frequent evening hours.Qualifications:Outstanding attention to detail and accuracyEffective organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneouslyExcellent interpersonal skills; inclusive and respectful when working with othersEffective verbal and written communication abilitiesProficiency with core Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPointA willingness to learn and develop additional computer skills related to data management and preparation of data for analysisResearch And/or Professional Experience With Adolescents Is Highly Preferred.Experience processing data using relevant software programs (e.g., SPSS, R, Qualtrics, BVA, Mindware) is also highly desired.Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required CertificationsAssociate Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
