Electric Power Generation, Transmission and DistributionElectrical Equipment ManufacturingLawn and Garden Equipment and Supplies RetailersAquacultureUtility System ConstructionAbout the RoleWe’re hiring a Power Plant Controller (PPC) Engineer to support the deployment and operation of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across North America.This is a hands-on role focused on plant-level control systems, commissioning, and grid integration, ensuring renewable energy plants operate reliably and meet grid compliance requirements.The role involves working closely with plant control hardware, including Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) RTAC-based systems.Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure and support Power Plant Controller (PPC) systemsImplement plant-level control strategies:Active power controlReactive power / voltage regulationRamp rate controlCurtailment & dispatchExecute on-site commissioning and plant testingSupport grid compliance testing (e.g., ERCOT, CAISO, PJM Interconnection)Integrate PPC systems with SCADA and plant control hardwareWork with plant control hardware including SEL RTACs and relay-based control systemsTroubleshoot plant control issues and support ongoing operationsWhat We’re Looking ForRequired3+ years of experience in:Renewable energy, power systems, or industrial controls in energy/utility environmentsExperience with plant control systems, PPC, or SCADA in power/energy applicationsHands-on experience with commissioning, testing, or field supportFamiliarity with SCADA protocols (Modbus TCP, DNP3, IEC 61850)Willingness to travel (25–40%)PreferredExperience with PPC platformsUtility-scale solar or BESS experienceExposure to grid compliance / ISO environments (e.g., ERCOT, CAISO)Strong preference for experience with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) RTACs or similar plant-level control hardwareExperience with PLC-based control systemsWhy This RoleWork on utility-scale renewable energy projects across North AmericaBe directly involved in plant commissioning and real-world operationsCollaborate with cross-functional and global teamsHigh-impact role supporting grid integration and plant performanceWork SetupHybrid: 1–2 days/week in Denver officeTravel required for commissioning and site supportOpen to candidates based in the Colorado Front Range, including Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and surrounding areas, as well as those interested in relocating to the region.Relocation assistance is not provided.Additional InfoCandidates with direct PPC or grid compliance experience are strongly preferred.
