Assistant Grocery Manager

Position OverviewThe Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Grocery Department. This role ensures strong in-stock conditions, effective merchandising, and excellent customer service while helping drive sales, control expenses, and develop team performance.Key Responsibilities Department OperationsSupport daily grocery department operations and executionEnsure shelves are stocked, faced, and properly merchandisedMaintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standardsEnsure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional displaysTeam Support & DevelopmentAssist in training and developing grocery associatesProvide day-to-day direction, coaching, and supportHelp manage schedules to meet labor goals and business needsPromote accountability and a positive team environmentCustomer ServiceDeliver fast, friendly, and helpful service to customersSupport a strong customer-first culture within the departmentAssist in resolving customer issues promptly and professionallyInventory & MerchandisingAssist with ordering, receiving, and inventory controlMaintain proper product rotation and backroom organizationMonitor out-of-stocks, shrink, and product qualityExecute merchandising plans and ad featuresFinancial PerformanceSupport department sales and profitability goalsAssist in controlling labor, shrink, and expensesMonitor key performance indicators and help drive improvementsSafety & ComplianceFollow all food safety and sanitation standardsEnsure compliance with company policies and proceduresMaintain a safe environment for customers and team membersQualificationsPrevious grocery or retail experience preferredLeadership or supervisory experience a plusStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentBasic knowledge of inventory and merchandising practicesWork Environment & Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs regularlyFrequent standing, walking, bending, and stockingFlexible schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidaysKey CompetenciesTeam support & leadershipCustomer focusAttention to detailOperational executionTime management & multitaskingCareer Path OpportunitiesGrocery ManagerAssistant Store DirectorStore Director
