Fund AccountantAbout the OpportunityWe are partnering with a well-established private equity investment firm focused on partnering with lower middle-market businesses across a variety of industries. The firm has a strong track record of value creation, a collaborative culture, and a long-tenured team.As the firm continues to grow, it is seeking a Fund Accountant to support the accounting, reporting, and operational functions across multiple private equity funds and related investment vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to gain exposure to the full fund lifecycle while working closely with investment professionals, leadership, external administrators, and investors.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain fund-level accounting records and general ledgers for private equity funds and related entities.Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting, including preparation and review of financial statements and supporting schedules.Support capital call and distribution processes, including investor allocations and related reporting.Prepare and review management fee calculations, carried interest allocations, and partnership accounting activities.Coordinate with third-party fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers.Assist with portfolio investment tracking, valuation support, and investment performance reporting.Reconcile cash activity, investment transactions, and fund-level accounts.Support annual audit and tax processes, including preparation of schedules and responses to auditor requests.Assist with process improvement initiatives, internal controls, and operational efficiencies across the finance function.Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses for senior leadership and investment teams.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.2–6 years of experience in fund accounting, public accounting, private equity, asset management, hedge funds, or financial services.Strong understanding of partnership accounting concepts.Experience working with investment entities, alternative investments, or private funds preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus but not required.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Preferred BackgroundsIdeal candidates may come from:Public accounting firms with alternative investment clientsPrivate equity firmsFund administratorsAsset management firmsHedge fundsVenture capital firmsWhat Makes This Opportunity AttractiveDirect exposure to private equity fund operations and investment activity.Opportunity to work closely with senior finance and investment professionals.Broad responsibilities across accounting, reporting, operations, and investor activities.Collaborative culture with strong mentorship and professional development opportunities.Stable platform with an established track record and long-term growth strategy.The Equus Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and takes pride in maintaining a diverse environment.
