Senior Fund Accountant

About the OpportunityOur client, an innovative private investment firm with a dual focus on financial returns and societal impact, is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant for their Chicago office. This role will support firm growth by leading fund accounting for multiple closed-end funds across equity and debt strategies. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, drive process enhancement, and support integration of new technologies and workflows. The position offers visibility across functional teams and is ideal for professionals who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative, and detail-oriented environments.Job ResponsibilitiesOversee financial close processes performed by third-party fund administrators for various private equity and debt funds Review key fund calculations including management fees, carried interest, fair value adjustments, and investor reporting metrics (ROI, IRR, capital statements)Support technology integration and automation to improve data quality and workflow efficiencyCollaborate across investment, operations, compliance, and valuation teams to deliver accurate financial dataProduce and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entitiesAssist with capital calls, distributions, ILPA-compliant schedules, audits, and investor due diligence requestsMaintain supporting schedules, workpapers, account reconciliations, and accruals for financial recordsSupport cash management, banking compliance, and tax-related deliverables, including communication with advisors and handling K-1s, estimates, distributions, and returnsAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning effortsJob RequirementsBachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred3–5 years of experience in public accounting, tax, or fund administration for private investment funds or alternative assetsFamiliarity with complex fund structures, financial planning, and analysisAdvanced analytical skills and proficiency in Excel; fund accounting software experience (Investran, eFront, Allvue, or equivalent) desirableExperience with Power BI, Power Query, or Alteryx preferredStrong communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team in deadline-driven settingsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailThe annual base salary range is $110,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
