Work 15-20 hours per week for a small medical office with one doctor. Our office is in a hospital building.
What does our Medical Front Desk Coordinator Receptionist do?
Our Medical Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for general clinic office functions including patient registration, insurance verification, collection of applicable co-insurance and/or co-payments, and scheduling of follow-up appointments and procedures.
The essential duties and responsibilities:
Coordinates all front office work and patient flow activities.
Pre-screening and facilitation of New Patients to the schedule
Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, and assist callers with questions or concerns.
Correspond with patients in real time using telephone, patient messaging and patient portal system
Maintain accurate, real-time, physician/clinic schedules
Ensure all new patient documentation is completed prior to scheduling appointments
Enter patient information, including any new/updated information into the patient accounting system.
Ensure historical patient medical records are scanned into EMR
Resolve all office-based issues and tasks related to equipment, computer, and supplies.
Review patient balances and insurance coverage levels to determine patient financial responsibility, including co-insurance rates .
Perform check-out tasks including scheduling patients for follow-up appointments.
Balance receipts daily and reconcile daily work.
Confirm referrals are current and in the chart, and assist in the retrieval of referrals when needed
Maintain the Workflow dashboard
Follow up with no-show appointments and accounts with outstanding balances
The ideal candidate for the Front Desk Coordinator will have the following minimum qualifications:
2+ years of previous Medical Office Experience.
Expert ability to multi-task and anticipate the needs of patients, staff, and doctor.
Highly organized individual with great attention to detail.
Knowledge of patient registration and insurance verification procedures.
Knowledge of patient scheduling, collections, and medical office flow.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information.
Skill in operating a computer, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, and multi-line telephone.
Additional Requirements:
Able to provide proof of Covid vaccine and boosters as needed
Able to provide proof of influenza vaccine each year (paid for by Med*Thin)
Must wear a mask during any situation of communicable respiratory diseases.
Following Medical City Dallas, Surgical Consultants of Dallas, and Med*Thin office rules and guidelines regarding attire, personal hygiene, appearance, and social distancing
