This position is responsible for supervising union and non-union employees, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations, and supporting operational performance. The Operations Manager works collaboratively across departments and with external partners to support organizational goals and community-focused reuse initiatives, while contributing to the ongoing development and expansion of Reuse operations.Essential Job FunctionsOversee day-to-day operations for both collection and post collection functions within the Reuse Operation Manage the inbound and outbound flow of materials to ensure smooth and efficient processing.Optimize routing and scheduling to enhance productivity, service quality, and cost efficiency.Maintain compliance with all safety standards and operational procedures.Work closely with RecycleSmart to ensure all contractual obligations are met.Collaborate with non profit partners to support Reuse-related programs and community initiatives.Coordinate, attend, and support special events and community programs tied to Reuse and RecycleSmart.Partner with internal departments to maintain strong communication, operational alignment, and support for company wide goals.Contribute strategic planning and operational improvements across the organization.Play a key role in expanding Reuse operations into additional jurisdictions in alignment with the company’s growth strategy.Identify operational efficiencies and best practices to support scalability.Interact with customers as needed to address and resolve service-related concerns.Ensure a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction. Required Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of reuse, recycling, or solid waste operations, including collection, post-collection, routing, and material flow.Understanding safety standards, operational procedures, and regulatory compliance, including Cal/OSHA requirements.Experience leading and supervising both union and non-union employees, including performance management and labor relations.Strong operational planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to improve efficiency and scale operations.Ability to analyze operational data and implement process improvements.Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.Strong customer service skills and the ability to professionally resolve service-related concerns.Proficiency with standard business and operational systems, with the ability to learn company-specific tools.Working knowledge of CBA and effective labor management practices. Knowledge and experience of solid waste and recycling processing equipment operation, maintenance and safe handling practices.
