In this senior technical role, you'll be an integral part of the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation related structural projects, from railroad to highway, as well as mentoring our structural team.In this position, you would serve in a lead role overseeing the technical design of structural engineering projects in our bridge and structures group. The role will include oversight and mentoring our engineering staff on best practices for planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation related structural projects.ResponsibilitiesOversees the technical design of structural engineering projectsDirects and mentors team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.Performs quality reviews of team members work for accuracy and to ensure that the production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirementsManages, develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for bridge-focused transportation projectsSkills and AttributesStrong proven ability to oversee complex projectsMotivated to coach and mentor team membersExtensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineeringExperience and in-depth knowledge of MassDOT Bridge design standardsDemonstrated excellence in technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsDetail-oriented and quality-focusedKnowledge of structural engineering software (AASHTOWare, Midas Civil, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, Mathcad)AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation v8 and Connect experience is a strong plusQualifications15+ years of professional experience in structural bridge design, construction phasing, and complex bridge/transportation projects requiredMassDOT/MBTA experience is preferredPE license requiredBS in Civil/Structural Engineering requiredMaster's degree with structural emphasis a plusExperience completing transportation studies, design reports, final design documents and developing contract plans, in conformity with accepted engineering standards and proceduresIndependent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete), and seismic analysisOur best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $170,000-230,000 and the position located in Worcester, MA is $160,000-220,000.
