Details Medical oncology unit (17 James) within a cancer hospital and research center setting Cares for adult and geriatric patients across the full spectrum of solid tumor cancers, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, esophageal cancers, and patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy Also manages true med/surg presentations alongside oncology diagnoses Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on unit needs Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30 Rotating 12D/N contract — shift assignments (nights or a mix) are determined based on department priorities and reassessed every 4-week scheduling period Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs Self-scheduling requests are submitted by the traveler prior to final schedule posting Charting done in Epic (experience preferred) Telemetry monitoring and interpretation required Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units 16-week contract Requirements Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Current BLS certification required Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and monitoring required Previous travel nursing experience preferred Oncology experience preferred but not required ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration Any time off or scheduling requests must be disclosed at the time of consideration Additional Information Unit focuses heavily on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention Cares for patients from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition First week of orientation is Monday–Friday on day shift; second week consists of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor No break period required between assignments when changing representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs, who still require a 30-day break) American Traveler Job ID P-684795.
