Utility Mechanic

COLT MIDSTREAMJob Description Title: Utility Mechanic Reports to: Plant Supervisor Department: Plant Operations Exemption Status: Non-exempt Location: Weatherford, TX Summary:The Utility Mechanic is an entry-level role designed for individuals with strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn. This position provides hands-on training and exposure to the skills needed to advance into a full Mechanic role. Under the guidance of experienced mechanics, the Utility Mechanic assists with mechanical maintenance and repair of natural gas gathering and processing equipment, engines, compressors, and other rotating equipment to support the safe and reliable operation of facilities. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow their mechanical knowledge and build a long-term career in natural gas equipment maintenance.   Key Accountabilities: As a Utility Mechanic, you’ll work alongside experienced mechanics, gaining hands-on training and supporting the safe, reliable operation of natural gas equipment. In this role, you will:·        Work in compliance with Colt Midstream’s Safety and Environmental policies, as well as applicable laws and regulations·        Actively participate in the company’s safety program, including safety meetings, required training, and supporting incident/accident investigations and documentation·        Contribute to maintaining 98% mechanical availability on natural gas engines, compressors, and related equipment·        Support preventative maintenance and major overhauls on engines, compressors, pumps, and other rotating equipment·        Document key measurements (mic readings) of engine and compressor components for historical records·        Learn and perform maintenance tasks such as replacing fuses, gaskets, valves, motors, belts, gauges, filters, oils, and lubricating fluids·        Change out suction/discharge valves and control valves·        Clean and maintain level sight glasses on all vessels·        Secure all types of tubing and piping as needed·        Assist with inventory control, organization of parts, and ordering replacements when needed·        Support the upkeep and appearance of equipment and facilities·        Upload documentation and maintain accurate records in Colt databases·        Work efficiently with a focus on cost awareness and resourcefulness·        Track and update maintenance schedules for compression equipment·        Collaborate with supervisor and Leads to improve maintenance procedures and programsPhysical Demands:·        Work is primarily outdoors (about 95%) in all weather conditions, with occasional office duties for paperwork (about 5%)·        Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms (including overhead), and use hands for fine motor tasks·        Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to communicate effectively·        Occasionally required to use the sense of smell for troubleshooting equipment·        Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis·        Requires good vision and the ability to work safely in physically demanding environmentsWork Environment:·        Work is generally supervised but requires self-motivation and responsibility·        May occasionally require long hours to meet deadlines or respond to operational needs·        Must remain calm and focused during emergencies or high-stress situations·        Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and risk of electrical shock·        Noise levels may exceed 90 dBA; use of hearing protection is required·        Expected to work well as part of a team and maintain respectful, professional relationshipsQualifications: Education & Experience:·        High School Diploma/GED required·        1–2 years of hands-on mechanical experience or completion of a relevant mechanical program (e.g., agricultural mechanics, shop/technical training, trade school) preferredSkills:·        Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills ·        Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively·        Strong communication skills, both verbal and written·        Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures·        Self-motivated, reliable, and safety-conscious·        Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel·        Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record·        Demonstrates integrity and professionalism in all workCertificates and Licenses:·        None required This profile is intended to outline the general content and requirements of the role.
