Senior Staff Accountant
Purpose
Cookies Retail is a preferred global retail partner of Cookies that will be opening and operating stores across the US. The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing various accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and providing strategic support to the finance team. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex accounting activities.
Core Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
Analyze financial data and provide insights to management to support decision-making.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing variance analysis and financial projections.
Mentor and support junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations.
Record vendor invoices and allocate intercompany as needed
Researches and solves payment discrepancies
Qualifications:
Required:
Passion for and knowledge about Cannabis
Passion for Cookies Culture
Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Business Central) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

No travel is expected for this position
