Join us and be part of something bigger - helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time.Job SummaryThe Epic EHR Development Lead is responsible for leading the design, configuration, development, and optimization of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) solutions across clinical, operational, and revenue cycle domains. This role provides technical and functional leadership for Epic application development, integrations, and enhancements while ensuring alignment with clinical workflows, organizational strategy, regulatory requirements, and Epic best practices.The Development Lead serves as a subject matter expert and team leader, partnering closely with clinical stakeholders, informatics, IT leadership, and vendors to deliver high-quality, scalable Epic solutions that improve patient care, clinician efficiency, and organizational performance.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & StrategyLead and mentor Epic analysts, developers, and configuration teams across assigned Epic modulesServe as the primary technical and functional escalation point for Epic-related development issuesDefine and enforce Epic development standards, build guidelines, and governance processesPartner with Informatics, Clinical Leadership, and IT leadership to align Epic development with organizational strategyContribute to Epic roadmap planning, optimization initiatives, and system upgradesEpic Development & ConfigurationOversee Epic application build, configuration, and customization across assigned modules (e.g., ClinDoc, Orders, Cadence, Prelude, Resolute, Willow, Beaker, Radiant, Cupid, MyChart, etc.)Ensure Epic development adheres to best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.)Review and approve design specifications, build documentation, and change requestsLead complex Epic enhancements, workflows, and clinical decision support developmentIntegration & Technical OversightGuide development and support of Epic integrations (HL7, FHIR, Bridges, Interconnect, APIs)Collaborate with interface and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable data exchange and system performanceSupport testing strategies including unit testing, integrated testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT)Oversee Epic upgrades, patches, and special updatesStakeholder EngagementTranslate clinical and operational needs into technical Epic solutionsFacilitate design sessions and workflow reviews with clinicians and business partnersCommunicate risks, timelines, and impacts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholdersSupport go-lives, stabilization efforts, and post-implementation optimizationQuality, Compliance & PerformanceMonitor system performance, data integrity, and user adoption metricsEnsure Epic configurations support patient safety, clinical quality, and reporting requirementsIdentify opportunities for workflow automation, standardization, and optimizationRequired QualificationsDemonstrated experience thinking critically and using deep problem solving skills to solve for a large matrixed organization with diverse healthcare delivery teamsExperience presenting and problem solving with senior leadershipBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years of Epic EHR experience, including hands-on build and configuration3+ years in a lead, senior analyst, or supervisory role supporting Epic systemsActive Epic certification(s) in one or more Epic modulesStrong understanding of healthcare clinical workflows and operationsExperience leading complex Epic projects or large-scale implementationsExcellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skillsPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or a related fieldMultiple Epic certifications across clinical and/or revenue cycle modulesExperience with Epic upgrades, re-implementations, or enterprise optimizationsKnowledge of interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD, APIs)Experience in an academic medical center or large integrated delivery networkFamiliarity with Agile, Lean, or ITIL methodologiesCore CompetenciesEpic application architecture and designClinical workflow analysis and optimizationTechnical leadership and team developmentSystems integration and interoperabilityHealthcare regulatory and compliance awarenessProblem-solving and analytical thinkingChange management and communicationPay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:$106,605.00 - $284,280.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
