Continuous Improvement Lean ChampionSCOPE: Works with management to identify key projects that will improve quality, reduce costs, improve cycle time, and provide the optimum benefits to customers and the business through waste reduction. BASIC FUNCTION: Executes Lean Manufacturing principles through multiple project completions for overall business improvement. Helps implement Lean Concepts as a change agent, leader, and coach for all employees. REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering Manager DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY· Applies Lean Principles to projects and ensures tools/processes are in place to ensure gains are sustained.· Leads and directs cross-functional teams in Lean and Kaizen project execution.· Trains team members in the application of appropriate Lean Principles. Equips team members and process owners with tools to ensure project controls are sustainable.· Identifies project issues and barriers and suggests appropriate courses of action.· Provides management with project schedules and status updates monthly.· Helps drive repeated use of Lean Principles for continuous improvement internally as well as externally with customers and suppliers as necessary.· Interfaces with the entire business to educate and integrate Lean principles.· Works closely with teams to identify proper focus of Lean efforts.· Conducts training for employees on Lean Principles and Kaizen events.· Implements, executes, and facilitates the utilization of lean tools to include but not limited to: Five S, Value Stream Mapping, 3p Cell Design Layout, Visual Management Systems such as Takt and Issue Resolution Boards, TPM, Standard Work, SMED, Kanban, Heijunka, Scheduling Boards, Strategy Deployment· Ensure alignment of Hartford continuous improvement initiatives with business objectives and the Nortek Business System.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:· Eight years professional experience in a related field; Five or more years of Lean leadership in a manufacturing environment preferred. Demonstrating a self-starting and hands-on Lean implementation and execution.· Lean Training is required and Lean Certification is a very strong plus.· Black Belt Certification a plus.Critical Skills:· Facilitation Skills· Ability to influence stakeholders· Excellent verbal and written communication abilities· System/Process thinker· Comfortable with a hands-on problem-solving approach· Four-year undergraduate degree preferred.
