Lakeshore Talent is in search of a Dietitian for a 6-month contract opportunity supporting a healthcare organization in Newport News, Virginia. This position plays a vital role in providing nutritional assessments, care planning, education, and dietary support for elderly and frail participants in a collaborative healthcare environment.Position DetailsJob Title: DietitianJob Type: ContractLength: 6 MonthsPay Rate: $28.85 - $36.06 per hourLocation: Newport News, VASchedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM ESTPosition OverviewThe Dietitian is responsible for completing participant nutritional assessments and reassessments, developing individualized nutrition care plans, monitoring dietary needs, and providing nutrition education to participants, caregivers, and staff. This role collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality participant care and support.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipant CareDevelop and implement individualized nutritional Plans of Care and reassess participants every six months or as neededConduct nutritional screenings and assessmentsMonitor food intake, therapeutic diets, and dietary modificationsProvide nutrition education to participants, caregivers, and staffRecommend and order nutritional supplements as appropriateParticipate in interdisciplinary care planning meetingsConduct home visits as neededDocument nutrition notes and participant progress in medical recordsCommunicate dietary concerns and updates with care teams and dietary staffSupport high-risk participants with specialized nutrition interventionsAssess food accessibility needs and coordinate referrals for meal support servicesAdministrative DutiesConduct sanitation and kitchen safety checksMonitor lunch and snack menu adequacyMaintain diet lists, supplement sheets, and dining guidesAttend care planning, family, and wound care meetingsAssist with training new dietary staffParticipate in department meetings and in-service trainingEnsure compliance with state food program regulationsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an accredited college or universityMinimum of one year of experience working with elderly or frail populationsKnowledge of medical terminologyAbility to complete written assessments and accurately document participant carePreferred QualificationsBilingual skills preferredRequired Certifications & OnboardingCandidates must complete all onboarding requirements prior to start, including:CPR/BLS Certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)First Aid CertificationPhysical and medical clearanceTB testDrug screening and background checkAdditional compliance documentation and training acknowledgementsBenefitsLakeshore Talent offers benefits to eligible contract employees.
