The Carpenter I is a carpenter with a building knowledge of rough and finish carpentry and the ability to be a capable support carpenter with a strong eye for quality. Reports to: Production Manager or designee. Position Summary FLSA Class: Hourly Non-Exempt The Carpenter I is a carpenter responsible for self-performing rough and finish carpentry of all types, as directed by the project team. This person is comfortable interacting with clients and understands that client satisfaction for each job is paramount. Due to the varied nature of the position, they may also be asked to perform and lead various construction tasks beyond carpentry, including but not limited to: demolition, general labor, waterproofing, temporary protection. Jobs To Be Done Complete tasks as directed in an efficient and timely manner. Perform and assist with a variety of finish and rough carpentry services consistent with plan specifications(i.e. millwork; casework installation; window and door installation; siding; roofing; decks; interior andexterior framing; floor systems; drywall; paint) Make sound, thoughtful decisions about construction techniques including inquiring about and researchabout best practices. Identify and solve problems within a team environment. Help maintain workplace safety and security at the jobsite. Produce end of day progress reports. Experience & Requirements 2 years carpentry experience. Appropriate hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Passionate about the field of architecturally significant residential, commercial, and high-performance building. Experience in some phases of building: layout, foundations, footings, concrete, waterproofing, flashing, framing, windows, doors, envelope, interior trim, exterior trim, finish, and cabinet/casework installation. Working knowledge of materials, industry standard methods, and tools. Comfortable with email, Microsoft Word, Excel, able to learn basic functions of projectmanagement/scheduling software. Detail-oriented approach to identify and solve issues. Willingness to prioritize safety and obtain necessary certifications determined necessary by companymanagement and safety manager. Efficient time-management. Ability to read and understand blueprints and communicate this information to others. Willingness to work long days and/or overtime, when necessary. Flexibility to work a schedule that can occasionally include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends,depending on project need. Access to a vehicle capable of carrying tools and supplies, a valid driver’s license, and able to drive betweendesignated projects throughout the workday. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; sit for extended periods; bend at the waist; repetitivemotions; push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl; walk on uneven terrain; proficientmanual dexterity with both small and large objects; lift and/or move at least 50 pounds. Resiliency to withstand regular exposure to outside weather conditions, loud noises, tight spaces, highprecarious places, moving mechanical parts, power tools, risk of electrical shock as well as other inherentconstruction site risks.
