Process Engineering Manager

About the Role As the Process Engineering Manager, you will oversee the development and performance of our engineering team while serving as the primary technical authority for our manufacturing systems, equipment, and continuous improvement strategies. Your focus will be on ensuring that all production methods and hardware are expertly designed, implemented, and maintained to uphold our rigorous quality standards, safety protocols, and operational targets. You will be responsible for mentoring and guiding your staff, providing the technical expertise necessary to foster professional growth. This role involves maintaining oversight of production workflows to maximize uptime, boost efficiency, and ensure consistent quality output. By leading cross-functional initiatives—ranging from new product integration to equipment upgrades—you will drive process optimization and cost-reduction efforts that align with our commitment to excellence and safety. Core Responsibilities Direct and supervise a team of engineers to ensure the successful execution of manufacturing processes across the facility. Provide technical oversight to help reduce waste and improve overall process control and efficiency. Set clear departmental goals and performance benchmarks while actively coaching engineering personnel. Design and deploy manufacturing workflows and equipment platforms that prioritize safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct research and development to establish optimized production methods and raw material specifications. Propose and execute enhancements to existing production systems to boost overall performance. Maintain and refine manufacturing documentation, including BOMs and work instructions, to ensure industry best practices are followed. Evaluate production performance metrics to identify opportunities that improve yield and overall equipment effectiveness. Facilitate structured problem-solving sessions, such as PFMEA and root cause analysis, to resolve complex manufacturing challenges. Manage engineering trials and validation efforts to ensure new processes meet all operational requirements. Oversee the transition of small-scale projects into full-scale, commercially viable production lines. Coordinate the launch of new products and equipment to ensure seamless integration into the manufacturing environment. Lead the procurement, installation, and commissioning of new manufacturing machinery to upgrade production capabilities. Manage capital expenditure projects to ensure they remain within budget and on schedule. Represent the engineering department in cross-functional design reviews and collaborative projects. Partner with quality, maintenance, and logistics teams to ensure company-wide objectives are met. Address customer technical inquiries and complaints with timely and effective solutions. Support internal audit processes to ensure all corrective actions are addressed promptly. Review business processes to uncover inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement. Train team members in data-driven analysis and engineering best practices to improve collective problem-solving skills. Foster a culture of safety by ensuring all processes are designed to protect the team and the environment. Develop safety-focused standard operating procedures to enhance workplace security. Assist in mitigating environmental and safety risks associated with engineering projects. Provide expert technical guidance to support manufacturing and other department leads. Balance multiple concurrent projects to ensure all deadlines are successfully achieved. Assist with troubleshooting and technical support during off-hours to minimize production downtime. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to support operational efficiency. Adhere to all safety protocols and utilize required personal protective equipment at all times. Perform additional tasks as requested by leadership. Qualifications and Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Science Engineering is required. At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, with a preference for backgrounds in aerospace or composite materials. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role managing technical staff. Proven track record of leading cross-functional projects within an engineering context. Advanced management or leadership training is highly desirable. Strong technical familiarity with thermoplastic and thermoset resin systems is preferred. Comprehensive understanding of statistical analysis, SPC, SQC, and FMEA/PFMEA methodologies. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications are preferred, with a Black Belt being a significant advantage. Demonstrated ability to use data-driven methodologies for continuous improvement. Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar platforms. Experience managing technical documentation such as routings, control plans, and BOMs. Deep understanding of manufacturing equipment integration and process optimization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including executive leadership and production staff. Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage complex project requirements. Capacity to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Dedication to maintaining a professional, safe, and orderly work environment. Willingness to strictly follow all safety procedures and wear necessary protective gear.
