About The Role & Program"What You Need To Know”, is a weekday news show anchored by ABC News chief international correspondent James Longman and senior political correspondent Rachel Scott, on Disney+. The short-form streaming series is ABC News' first original daily news program created for Disney+. From breaking headlines and the day's biggest stories to entertainment buzz and viral videos, the show has everything you need to know.The approximate dates of this internship are mid-August 2026 through early January 2027 and the hours will be a Monday-Friday schedule, 5:00am ET – 1:00pm ET.What You Will Do“What You Need To Know” interns will perform a variety of duties. You will be assisting producers and staff with all aspects of production.Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited ToBooking, assisting with news breaking crashes, logging & transcribingAssisting with graphicsResearching stories & additional support functionsLight video editingPitching storiesShadowing in control roomShadowing/assisting with field piecesAssisting with social mediaAssisting on segmentsFact checkingRequired Qualifications & SkillsExperience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving and collaborative work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projectsExperience with working in a deadline-driven environmentExperience in and/or basic understanding of news productionExperience with standard office softwarePreferred QualificationsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in MS Word, Access, Excel & PowerPointPrevious internship experience, either within print or broadcast journalismPrevious experience related to social mediaFamiliarity and/or experience with editing systems, such as Adobe Premiere and/or AvidEducation Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related fieldJunior or Senior year preferredEligibility Requirements & Internship InformationCandidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.Be at least 18 years of agePossess unrestricted work authorizationAdditional InformationAble to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internshipThe approximate dates of this internship are mid-August 2026 through early January 2027Fully available to work 40 hours per week with the schedule of Monday-Friday, 5:00am ET – 1:00pm ET.Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York areaAble to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.50 per hour.
