Controller
A fast-growing marketing and technology company is seeking a Controller to join its expanding finance team. In this highly visible role, you will take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations while partnering directly with the CFO/COO to strengthen the company's accounting infrastructure, improve financial processes, and build a scalable controls environment. The position is based in Savannah and will transition to a fully remote model following an initial onboarding period focused on building relationships with key stakeholders.About the ControllerKey Responsibilities:Drive process improvement, systems optimization, and automation initiatives across the finance function, including ERP implementation and enhancement.Partner closely with senior finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, variance analysis, and strategic decision-making.Build and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, approval workflows, and documented policies and procedures.Lead and develop the accounting team across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.Produce client-level financial reporting, sales reporting, and commission calculations to support business performance and commercial decision-making.Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.Lead the clean-up and optimization of the general ledger, resolving historical accounting issues and establishing a clean, audit-ready financial environment.Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.Key Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager.Experience leading or actively participating in an ERP implementation or systems migration, including data migration and process redesign.Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and the end-to-end monthly close process.Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes and building structure within a growing or evolving finance function.Strong accounting systems experience, including QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms, coupled with advanced Excel skills.Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate independently within a fast-paced and changing environment.What sets this company apart:This fast-growing marketing and technology company is entering an exciting stage of its development, creating an opportunity for an experienced accounting leader to have a meaningful impact on how the finance function operates and scales.
