Outpatient Therapist
There are people in Lincoln, Millinocket, East Millinocket, Medway, Howland, and Lee who need someone in their corner. Kids who are struggling in school. Adults who've been on a waitlist for months. Families that are stretched thin with nowhere close to turn. There aren't enough clinicians in this part of Maine, and the ones who are here are booked solid.
MC Community Services is looking for a licensed clinician to join our outpatient therapy practice. You'll carry a caseload of children and adults, providing individual, family, and group therapy in an office setting. Your work will be supported by a team of Behavioral Health Professionals who deliver community-based services to many of the same families you'll be treating — giving you a fuller picture of each member's life than most outpatient clinicians get.
This role is for someone who wants real autonomy, a manageable caseload, and the chance to make a visible difference in a community small enough that you'll actually see it.
What you'll do
Conduct Comprehensive Assessments — integrated evaluations of each member's medical and psycho-social needs, including screening for co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions, using current DSM diagnostic criteria
Determine medical necessity and develop Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs)
Provide individual, family, and group therapy for children and adults using evidence-based practices
Collaborate with BHP staff, families, schools, and other providers as part of a treatment team
Apply Trauma Informed Care principles across all service delivery
Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with MaineCare requirements
What we're looking for
Fully licensed (LCSW, LCPC): Higher end of pay range. Clinical independence with support from leadership, not micromanagement.
Conditionally licensed (LMSW-cc, LCPC-c): Welcome to apply. We provide clinical supervision toward full licensure at no cost to you. Our Clinical Director holds an LCSW, LADC, and CCS and will serve as your supervisor. Starting pay at the lower end of the range with increases tied to licensure milestones and caseload growth.
Minimum qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
Active Maine licensure: LCSW, LCPC, LMSW-cc, or LCPC-c
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care practices
Ability to serve members with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions
Preferred
Experience with MaineCare documentation and billing
Background in behavioral health, developmental disabilities, family therapy, or adult mental health
Familiarity with Section 65 outpatient service delivery
Training in evidence-based modalities (CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing)
What we offer
Salary plus productivity bonuses with total compensation potential above $75K
Free clinical supervision for conditionally licensed clinicians
Dental and vision insurance
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Paid time off and paid holidays
401(k) retirement plan
CEU and professional training allowance
Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel
Small agency, real autonomy — direct access to leadership, flexible scheduling, and a voice in how services are delivered
Who we are
MC Community Services is a licensed Mental Health Agency contracted with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and enrolled as a MaineCare provider. We've been providing behavioral health services to children, adults, and families in the greater Lincoln area since 2009, delivering outpatient behavioral health services under Section 65 and rehabilitative community support services under Section 28 of the MaineCare Benefits Manual across Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Washington counties.
We're a small, locally owned agency. Our staff live in the same communities as the families we serve. The impact isn't abstract. It's personal.
We're not a big healthcare system with layers of bureaucracy. We're a small, caring team of people who show up every day for families that don't have a lot of other options. If that's the kind of work that drives you, we want to talk.
