Account Clerk IThe City of Virginia Beach is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Account Clerk I to join our team. Applicants must live in Virginia Beach, as employees will travel within the city and work in satellite office locations. This role is ideal for someone with strong clerical, cash-handling, and data-entry skills who enjoys providing excellent service both in person and over the phone. Key responsibilities include: Provide professional customer service in person and by phone. Perform cash-handling duties with accuracy and integrity. Type at least 30 WPM and use 10-key efficiently. Use Microsoft Office Suites for daily tasks and communication. Search and review records for tax-related inquiries. Accurately process entries for: Real estate Personal property Permits Utilities Animal licensing Other related billing areas Cross-train with other staff and provide coverage during peak periods, absences, and vacations. Perform additional clerical and general office duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications include: High school diploma or GED. At least six (6) months of experience in bookkeeping, clerical accounting, or related fields OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
