Base pay range $90.00/hr - $100.00/hr Direct message the job poster from CDM Technology Calibration Engineer — Carlsbad, California | R+D | Full-time Reporting to Director, Powertrain Carlsbad, California Position Summary Seeking a skilled and experienced Calibration Engineer to execute testing, analysis, and calibration of powertrain and vehicle control features. This Calibration Engineer will directly determine the customer experience relating to numerous vehicle features. Key Responsibilities Test, analyze, and calibrate powertrain and vehicle control features, including function, performance, and diagnostics Devise cost and time efficient test activities, to develop, verify, and validate feature calibrations Formulate success criteria for feature calibrations Work with test technicians and other engineers to ensure appropriate instrumentation is present, calibrated, and data is correctly stored Assist with elaboration of vehicle use cases, requirements, and design experiments to verify the design and validate the product Utilize MCD (Measurement, Calibration, and Diagnostic) tools to visualize, record, and analyze data Use XCP calibration tools to modify the behavior of the onboard ECUs (Electronic Control Units) to ensure features achieve design requirements and satisfy user expectations Coordinate test activities, equipment, and facilities with third parties to achieve goals Familiarity with the ECU SW models and specifications to affect desired data analysis and calibration Use revision control SW to obtain, modify, store, and document changes to prerelease SW and calibration files Maintain a record of SW versions and applied calibrations, their enabled feature sets, and associated limitations Maintain meticulous records including vehicle HW and SW configurations, test conditions, test results, and limitations Document processes and procedures in knowledge sharing tools such as Confluence Plan and execute work breakdown in task management tools such as Jira Hands-on leader, propelling teams toward our collective objectives Practical or professional experience in automotive systems including electric drive systems, high-voltage systems, vehicle communication networks, and cooling systems Self-motivation and desire for continuous improvement Proficiency with MCD tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANape, or INCA) Familiarity with UDS (Unified diagnostic services) Great technical and interpersonal communication Evidence of being a self-starter and bringing projects to completion Ability to thrive in fast-paced and ambiguous environments Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with Model-Based Design (MATLAB and Simulink is a plus) Proficiency with task management tools (Jira is a plus) Experience with component design, analysis, and validation is a plus Team Structure Collaborate with onsite and remote engineers and technicians to achieve team and individual goals, furthering our collective mission. Provide direct instruction and work verification to technicians aiding with instrumentation and test setup, test execution, and data collection. Required Experience 3 to 5 years of experience in electric vehicle ECU calibration, preferably in a successful production program.
